North beach house
This modern coastal style draws from the craftsman tradition. The design separates the Master Suite for privacy, connected with a gallery and screened porch to the main living and entertaining space. Additional bedrooms, including an informal bunk area for unexpected overnight guests, occupies a second level. The gallery connecting the two wings of the house has clerestory screens to promote air movement through the second floor screen porch. There are generous views of the Bay of St Louis from every room and the house dances with the trees to create a sense of privacy and connection to nature.
Along the coastal edge, it is critical to find ways to provide safe elevation but retain a connection to activities at the grade level. This 4,000 SF house has a large area beneath the house with screened porches, storage areas, an outdoor kitchen and pool deck.
