Depot row housing
residential
Downtown areas can get a little rundown over many years of occupation and shifting commercial districts. The recovery of former commercial buildings for housing can help downtowns thrive, and it often requires little more than a fresh coat of paint and carefully composed new windows to fit into a historic district.
This 2500 SF commercial space was renovated into 2 residential units of 2 bedrooms each. A 300 SF loft was added above the second floor, requiring a very thin floor plate. The existing balcony of this structure was set into the building and poorly constructed, so it was replaced with a projecting balcony with a generous canopy.
