The Waveland Business Center was designed to catalyze redevelopment in the historic civic, shopping and commercial district of Waveland by supporting and nurturing local business, manufacturing and entrepreneurial efforts. The placement of the building reflects the original urban character of Coleman Avenue. The traditional typology of an urban marketplace promotes the use of the building for multiple civic functions: gallery openings, parade-viewing, and outdoor dining happen on the porches and covered spaces between buildings; the coastal breeze makes the outdoor space useful year-round.

This building was designed and constructed to meet LEED-Silver certification, using sustainable design to extend the building’s service life, use less electricity and water, and provide a healthy environment inside and out.
