ST STANISLAUS COLLEGE
CIVIC
Sustainability is a key issue for schools, with the goal of creating a healthy environment while saving energy, resources, and money. The Student Resource Center program includes administration offices, student activity areas including a canteen, clubs and meeting rooms, and six classrooms including a Marine Biology Laboratory. Improvements were made to the 1970s-era envelope to prepare for increasing climate challenges and reduce energy use.
Green principles at work in the school include: daylighting and views for classrooms and offices to improve performance, high indoor air quality to improve student/faculty health, excellent acoustics to increase learning potential, mold prevention to decrease allergies and asthma, and thermal comfort to increase occupant satisfaction and productivity.
